Update for parents

Thank you for showing an interest in Scouting. It has taken almost a year to find a new leader to take over the running of Beavers from September 2017 but we have now secured the future of the section. Beavers moves from Fridays to Thursdays and will be 6 to 7pm.

Parents will be asked to join in with the parent rota to provide support in running the activity.

About Beaver Scouts

Beaver Scouts are young people usually aged between six and eight years old. They belong to the first and youngest Section in the Scouting family. Young people can join Beaver Scouts in the three months leading up to their sixth birthday. They can move to the next Section, Cub Scouts, at around 8 years old.

Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others.

What Beaver Scouts Wear
Beaver Scouts wear a full uniform. Scouting is a uniformed organisation and the uniform tells everyone that you are a Beaver Scout. For instance, people can tell what Colony you belong to by looking at the colour of your scarf. Ours is green and purple.

The uniform consists of:

Turquoise long sleeved Sweatshirt
Group Necker (scarf)
Blue Activity Trousers (optional)

How do you Join?
Perhaps your child knows a friend who is a Beaver Scout...ask them what it's like. See the latest programme on this page to get an idea of what Beavers get up to.

You can email us to register your child's interest for a space - we operate a waiting list. Once a space becomes available, we will be glad to let your child come along for a couple of evenings to see if your child likes it. If your child wants to become a member of Scouting, information will be given on what to do next. Parents are also encouraged to help with sessions on an occasional basis and we ask that a DBS check is carried out (there is no cost to parents for this).

What does it cost?

There is a termly subscription (subs). Full details in Useful Info
